AZURE VR

Microsoft wanted a way for employees, students and visitors to safely explore one of their flagship renewable energy facilities without requiring travel or physical access. The experience needed to run entirely on standalone Meta Quest hardware while remaining intuitive and accessible for users with little or no previous VR experience.

Our Solution

To meet the project's objectives, GDXR designed and developed a bespoke standalone VR application for Meta Quest 2 that recreated Microsoft's renewable energy facility as an immersive, interactive learning experience. The application seamlessly integrated detailed 3D environments with 360° media, audio, interactive hotspots and contextual information, allowing users to freely navigate and discover how the facility operates. Built with mobile VR performance in mind, the experience was extensively optimised to deliver high visual fidelity while maintaining the smooth performance required for standalone hardware. The result was an engaging educational platform that enabled Microsoft to showcase its sustainability initiatives to users anywhere in the world.
